Resources and Information about Emerald Ash Borer

emerald ash borer

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an exotic, invasive wood-boring insect that infests and kills native North American ash trees (Fraxinus spp.), both in forests and landscape plantings.

As of September 8, 2010, all 88 Ohio counties are under a quarantine.  The quarantine is imposed to prevent the spread of EAB and prohibits the transport of all non-coniferous firewood including from maple, hickory, and ash trees, to other counties that are not under quarantine.  Clermont County was found to have an EAB infestation on October 13, 2008.
